Sixty

so far away, in those days
aunts, uncles, afternoon Sunday teas
having to wait, listen
to be patient and proper
the fruit bowl on the table
a little jaded, still, always out of reach
how times have changed
a different measure
fruit soft, ripe
the taste now seeps into our being
undreamed
